surprise surprise

And I should have wrote about this two weeks ago......because I am such a faithful blogger. (ha)

I have wonderful friends, more than wonderful friends, friends who love me for me, like to be around me (sometimes) and who celebrate life with me. I love them, cherish them and hope that I am half the friend they are.

Here's the story:

Thursday September 15th I had boot camp like I do every Thursday. I was suppose to go to Christa J's after for a movie (so she said) after but just really felt like I needed to come home so Rich could go out. Well Sheena, Raven and Christa had been planning this for a while and I was totally ruining it. (grin) I think Sheena cried!! (she was 9 months pregnant)
So they went on to plan b.

After a very intense workout and sweat dripping down my back and face and arms and legs.........ect ect. You get the point.
I was jumped by a little itty thing named Christa I was ready to fight but I knew I would hurt her (I hope she reads this). She blind folded me and guided me to my van. I was in shock. As we were driving all I could think of was 2 things,
1. I bought a sexy outfit for Saturday night (which was when the party was suppose to me) I better get to wear it, bahaha!!!
2. Why is she taking me to surrey?? (I'm directionally challenged and blindfolded)

We definitely did not go to surrey. We went to aldergrove, almost worst, haha joke.

I was happily surprised by some of the greatest woman I know. It was amazing. I ate more chocolate than all of them put together. One great little part about the night is that the ladies were asked to wear workout cloths so I wouldn't feel so bad. (so sweet) Some did and some opted out of the workout cloths (Their excuse, I'm out without my kids I'm gonna look hot)
It was a wonderful night with so much laughter and fun!! It was God's little reminder to me that I am so loved and so blessed to have these woman to walk thru life with.

They did not leave me empty handed! I left with a gift card to lululemon and some shopping money for working so hard to loose weight. I was brought to tears.

Its crucial to have girl friends in your life that uplift, bless, encourage, challenge, cry and laugh with. Its what gets me through most days. I can promise you I am not about superficial who has what, who makes what, who has the best hair, the best cloths, the skinniest, the prettiest, has the best dressed kids or biggest house. I am about real life, hard, good, happy sad!! REAL LIFE. Journey through the everyday.

If it weren't for these woman I wouldn't be who I was.

Thanks friends for the surprise and chocolate and laughs and but most importantly thank you for showing me true friendship, thanks for walking life out with me even if it hasn't always been easy. (Grin)

Cheers to the next 40 years of friendship

beat the number.

I never thought I was super competitive! I guess I am with a few things like dutch blitz, settlers, charades!! Things like that but when it comes to athletic stuff I have never really cared!! Funny how things change!! hehe

Month 2 last day of week three and I find my self trying to push it to the max! My first month of boot camp was so hard.I started not being able to run for a minute and now find my self running most of the time unless its at the top of the death hill!! I would be a liar if I said I am not proud of my self and my accomplishments! I have been hitting some major millstones in my weight loss! so much so I am willing to let Rich see the scale when I step on it, ha! (Annika has been stepping on the scale after me, she says "awww to fit" meaning aw to big bahahahah)

As woman we deal with constant insecurities. Mine has definitely been my weight over the last 5 years. I am not ashamed to admit when I walk in a room my first reaction is to think I must be the heaviest girl there. I hate diets. I really do there just a set up for falling back into bad eating habits. They build you up to tear you down.
I also lovvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee food! Sweet food, salty food, spicy food, you name it i like it. But aside from the weekend snacking I feel like for the first time I have a handle on it. My need to be healthy and in shape is becoming much more important then my need to eat a chocolate bar. (for those who know me that's huge, i love chocolate!!)

So on to the major weight loss. I am willing to let you in on my numbers!! You can judge if you want! I am over it. I m not proud of the eating habits I created to get where I was! But I am proud that I am busting my butt to be a new Lindsay.

So here it is:
After I left the hospital with Zach I was 210 pounds!!! wowzzers! I did not loose tones of weight before I got pregnant with him which led to more weight! Ouch.
I went down to 195 and sat there for the first 6 months of his life and pretty much sat there for the first 2.5 years of Annika's life! I look back and think why did it take me so long to get motivated!! Truth be told weight loss isn't just about numbers, there is usually a whole lot of other stuff going on.
OK back to numbers, ha! I lost about ten pounds before I started boot camp. Going into boot camp at 185.5.
As the Scale called my name this morning, I was a little nervous hoping to see a good number but trying not to get to excited.
This morning I weighed in at 168 pounds!!! booyah baby!!! My goal is 150 maybe 145 depending on how I look. I was dying to get under that 170 mark it was haunting me!! Haunt me no more!!!!

So feel free to celebrate with me, feel free to join me, feel free to eat, the balls in your court.

Cheers
To my protein shake! (and a tiny bowl of organic mac and cheese to celebrate the number) Grin.

Boot Camp's a comin

Ekk, So I signed up for Boot Camp with a friend of mine Christa!! What was I thinking?
I was thinking it's time to make a change in my life in my body!!! Ha easier said then done. I have been trying to prepare my self by going to the gym doing Jillian's 30 day Shred. Truth is I feel so unprepared. I'm nervous the ladies will torture me. Yepp bootcamp Torture. You know the kind were your sweating like a gross cow ( do Cow's sweat) and trying to tell your self you can do it!! I'll probably pass out.

Excited!!! Nervous but excited. It will be hard work and I think I'am up for that. (Grin) Like I said in my last blog Rich and I are trying to make change for the better. Funny how guys change way faster than girls. (kinda annoyed) But I'm working. Working hard. Not eating after dinner watching my sugars and carbs working out every day. Esh! Tomorrow is weigh in day. It better be a good number or ill cry. I wont really, I'll just be so annoyed, I busted my butt this week!!!! We had Home group on Monday and there was all this yummy food and I wanted it so bad. But I kept telling my self "Lindsay there will be another party with more food, stay away from the kitchen!!!!" So I did and I left with my head high!

We can take control over our cravings. We can be better healthier people. I'll be honest I am such an emtional eater. When I'm sad, mad, happy, I want to celebrate it all with food. Its totally mind over matter. I have to talk my self down everyday. I have to tell my self I want to me healthy and in shape and able to keep up with my kids and food isnt that important. (Dont quote me on that the next time im filling my face at a party ok!!!)

Miles to go but miles closer than miles away!! haha I made that up!!!! I liked it!!!!

cheers to the yummy booster juice im drinking after my crazy workout.

Whats Organic?

Organic is a word we see every where. Its a popular! I like it. When I see organic written on something I want to buy it, mostly because I feel cool. I would watch the lady at the grocery store get all her organic stuff and think wow she rocks. I wish I bought organically. HA.

I honestly didn't have any concept of what it meant to buy organically. A friend of mine enlightened me. Her family read an awesome book called "Maximize your living". After reading this book they choose to start eating organically. That includes meats, veggies, as much as possible. I was inspired by their life change and by the way my lovely friend was starting to look. (Not that she didn't look amazing before) She dropped her baby weight like no problem and I was so jealous. She was shrinking and I was eating!!! (Everything)

Watching her stirred my passion on to eating healthy and living a better life. Richard is in the process of becoming a police officer. Its a long process one that requires being dedicated to healthy living. Working out eating healthy, yada yada. It was something our family really needed!!!
It was almost a conviction! We so wanted our kids to grow up with good healthy food ones not sitting in a can or a box for years, processed with I don't even know what!!! Meat that has had so many awful things happen to it before we even put it in our mouth.

We have begun. Its not easy and its not cheap. Rich still isn't working so we have had to make slow transitions. Like watching food labels and pectides levels in our food. Watching our carbs and switching to Stevia Xlityol or raw honey. When we get the opportunity we try and get meats from Heritage meats. Its so much yummier !!! learning about the fats we eat, Good and bad! Theres good fats I promise and i relish in them!! (Grin)

I can honestly say even for Richard we have never felt better! I have now lost almost 11 pounds in 3 weeks and rich through dedication has lost 20! He looks so hot!!!! I have never felt better in my life. I have definitely Gone through sugar withdraws. Its such an addiction. And we cheat often its part of a balanced life. I think! And those days are glorious.

Its been such an awesome life change for us, And for Annika! What we put in our bodies does matter.

A phrase I keep saying to my self and its not new its old and over said I'm sure but helps me out alot.

I EAT to LIVE not LIVE to EAT!!!!

Awesome hope you enjoy what the Nicolles are up to.

Cheers to living Organically!

thwank chu mommy

As I hand my almost three year a cookie, she says "thwank chu mommy"! Cookies are a definite food group at our house. "Annika can you get me a diaper for Zach" Annika: "No mommy"! "ill give you a cookie. "Ohhhhh Thwank Chu mommy!! works every time.

Gesh I thought 2 was bad this is a whole new world. I must admit I was told, warned more like it!!! Ekk Watch out world Annika is almost 3. Some days are so pleasant and fun (some) the rest are.........time outs, time to play in your room, "Ok annika that's enough! "Annika please stop touching that"! "Annika don't put food in Zachs mouth. Annika, Annika, Annika.
Holllla!! Yah with me? Can I get an amen!

I love her to pieces, like a rieces pieces! Hmm I could have one of those right now, but I already ate way to many mini eggs! Often when she is asleep and I have had a couple hours to recover I am amazed at who she is, her amazing personality, her sweet little smiles, her love for her friend Jesus. Often Jesus reminds me of his Grace for her and his love for her, it's something so deep and so wide I cant understand.

Deep and wide deep and wide!
I am commanded as her mother to love her and teach her in the ways she should go. Its hard real hard. (In nacho libre voice) Actually read the whole blog in that voice it will be more fun.

pause, Gotta run and give annika some juice that she has been screaming for while jumping on her bed for the last ten minutes!

Back: man she is stubborn, wonder where she gets that from. Richard!!

If your a mom you totally relate. In these past couple weeks that Rich has been home and helping me out like crazy (Thanks hubby) he has said often how do you do this everyday with only two hands?? HAHA, that makes me smile, big smile (once again nacho libre) Mom's often feel so run down with no one to notice all the things we do in a day.

Yah know what you deserve a latte, a really big extra whip latte.

This is one big rant!!

Brother, now she has to pee for the 20th time. Someone want a shift! I'll give yah a cookie?? (GRIN)

Cheers to cookies!!

Bigger Things

I have been pondering this blog for the last two weeks. Pondering how transparent to be.

Alot has been going on in our life in the last couple weeks. we have been faced with things that really weaken me. Sometimes I am not sure I can keep pushing through. I want to happily say I am full of faith in this time and know God has BIGGER Things but that would be a lie. Its easy for me to have knowledge of something in my head and not fully grasp it in my heart. Its my weakness. (Truth hurts) I think God would rather me be honest with my sitautions instead of pretend I am upper spiritual and can handle all the giants that come my way. (There seems to be alot these days) To be completely honesty most the time I want to pull my trucker mouth out and scream and shout really obscene things, but it doesn't help. Tryed, Tested and failed. But I still think lieing to my self and God doesn't do any good either.

This is a hard blog and a bare bones matter of fact one too! If it offends you leave know. In love of course.

I ask God alot of questions alot of hard questions. Maybe some christians think the questions I ask are not one's you ask God. I am a believer in hard real honest questions, honest life struggle. I am not sure we are ever suppose to reach the mountian top. Iam pretty sure its a continual climb Up and down up and down. It's where God keeps me humble.
Through this last few weeks and I know other times in my life I feel like I am in a storm a bad one. Often when in a storm I feel the Lord asking me if i can stand through this storm. Sometimes I think, ahh NO Lord how much do you think I can handle and other times I stand firmly and walk through without getting to wet. This time I am socked!!! Completely trenched and not sure I can continue to stand.

So after all that reading your wondering, "Lindsay Spill it"

ahhhh deep sigh! Long pause..................

And might not seem like a big deal for you,

This last two weeks rich lost his job. He works so hard and puts so much time into his Job. This came as such a blow! He lost it for some really injust reason that is being pursued right know. But still he lost his job. For us thats a big deal, without savings and credit cards it makes this a very difficult time. He walked in the door Friday morning with his head down and defeat in his eyes! I weaped! What a great man I have! He looked at me and said Lindz I have peace and know God has something bigger. I wasnt so convinced, actually I was pissed off at everything. God WHY!!!! Not only did rich loose his job we were dealing with two sick kids, who both were in emerg at two seperate times. YUCK!!! Agian really, how much can I handle. Hanging by a thread here.

Zach was born very sick He needed to be ventelated (Life support) in his first two days of life. Great thing is he got better fast and we brought him home and he is healthy and huge!! (GRIN) I love his fat. Zach has a weez that the doctors cant figure out. He's ok he just needs ventilin every once and a while

Annika such a sweet and busy toddler. Has severe febreal seizures. She has had two in her first year of life and was on the brink of her third this week but we caught it in time.

thats a whole lot of stuff and I dont say it for pitty. It helps when people can relate and know that others are walking through some hard times as well. This is a hard time but i have hope that we will come out with our heads held high with life lessons under our belt.

In the Process I will continue to ask questions. God knows right?? Right?

If we never walk through difficult times in our faith and in our life we never grow in our faith. I think anyways. Faith isnt always easy , life isnt always easy. Life hits us with hard things I am realizing.

Sigh

And maybe cheers
Cheers to hard times and alot of coffee and tissue. But mostly Cofee

The Real Zachariah - Luke 1:5

The Birth of John the Baptist Foretold

5 In the time of Herod king of Judea there was a priest named Zechariah, who belonged to the priestly division of Abijah; his wife Elizabeth was also a descendant of Aaron. 6 Both of them were righteous in the sight of God, observing all the Lord’s commands and decrees blamelessly. 7 But they were childless because Elizabeth was not able to conceive, and they were both very old.
8 Once when Zechariah’s division was on duty and he was serving as priest before God, 9 he was chosen by lot, according to the custom of the priesthood, to go into the temple of the Lord and burn incense. 10 And when the time for the burning of incense came, all the assembled worshipers were praying outside.

11 Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right side of the altar of incense. 12 When Zechariah saw him, he was startled and was gripped with fear. 13 But the angel said to him: “Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John. 14 He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth, 15 for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even before he is born. 16 He will bring back many of the people of Israel to the Lord their God. 17 And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the parents to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous—to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”

18 Zechariah asked the angel, “How can I be sure of this? I am an old man and my wife is well along in years.”

19 The angel said to him, “I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to tell you this good news. 20 And now you will be silent and not able to speak until the day this happens, because you did not believe my words, which will come true at their appointed time.”

21 Meanwhile, the people were waiting for Zechariah and wondering why he stayed so long in the temple. 22 When he came out, he could not speak to them. They realized he had seen a vision in the temple, for he kept making signs to them but remained unable to speak.

23 When his time of service was completed, he returned home. 24 After this his wife Elizabeth became pregnant and for five months remained in seclusion. 25 “The Lord has done this for me,” she said. “In these days he has shown his favor and taken away my disgrace among the people.”

62 Then they made signs to his father, to find out what he would like to name the child. 63 He asked for a writing tablet, and to everyone’s astonishment he wrote, “His name is John.” 64 Immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue set free, and he began to speak, praising God. 65 All the neighbors were filled with awe, and throughout the hill country of Judea people were talking about all these things. 66 Everyone who heard this wondered about it, asking, “What then is this child going to be?” For the Lord’s hand was with him.

I love the Story of this couple! I was reading some commentaries on the story and loved the way that Zechariah and Elizabeth were portrayed!! The Scripture highlights that they were righteous in the sight of God and blameless. One commentator said it well when he said they weren't sinless but blameless. Blameless meaning they lived their life with dignity and honour in their community. Found guilty for nothing!

This couple was barren. Righteous in the sight of God, found blameless, but barren. WHAT!!! But they were such faithful servants?? One day God sends a Angel to Zechariah and tells him he is gonna be a pappa!!! WHAT?? But were old? Like God cared!!!

This story is a perfect example of how radical God is. How he honors those who are faithful before him. How He continues to show his people that living life in a cage is not an option.

Seems Random that I would write about this Story. But actually very significant to a time in my life were I needed a reminder that God does big things, that from the beginning of time he has done big things. That he has big things for my life and for my family. My dad always says "wheres your faith"!! Um I'm not sure if you find it can you let me know!!!

I'm gonna write more about this big thing he did in my life!!! Stay tuned!!!

Rich and I always says cheers when were happy and grateful for something. For example
Cheers to Starbucks coffee
Cheers to loud and funny 2 1/2 year olds
cheers to love
and so on.

Cheers to God big doing things!!
Cheers
